I debated whether or not I wanted to make my new screen capture archive look totally different than the rest of the site, like I did with the old one. As you can see, I decided not to. Mostly, it was because of laziness, but I also realized that it would probably help with load times. So here we are at my new and perhaps (or perhaps not) improved screen capture archive. It's new because it's...well, new. It's improved because the screen caps are taken from DVDs now instead of crappy old VHS tapes, some of which dated back to *gulp* G1's original run. Like, in 1985. Man, I'm old...
*ahem*
The focus/purpose of this archive has also changed from my original archive's purpose, which was...uh, it didn't really have a purpose, actually. But, since making screen captures has become much easier with the advent of DVD drives, you can find generic screen cap archives just about all over the place on the Web. You want one of those, then go to Seibertron.com. I, meanwhile, have decided to be a bit more specialized and a bit more selective, and make my archive actually have a purpose.
So, my archive (other than the Goofy Images archive, which is the only "carryover" from the old archive and which still exists solely because it greatly amuses me) is/will be pretty much meant for you people out there who are arty. I've often heard it said that many artists used the screen caps in my old archive as references for their drawings or whatever other artistic endeavors they were undertaking. So, I've decided to run with that and to aim this new archive even more at people who are looking for reference pics.
So most, if not all, of the images that will go into my archive will be single-character images. And while you'll find "standard" images of full bodies and close-ups of faces, I'm also going to try to make images of, say, just a given character's legs. Or their back. Or their hands. Or their weapons, even. I'll also try to get images of their alt modes from all angles possible.
Most of the images in the archive are large (960x720 pixels). Some are smaller than that because I've cropped them to focus the image on a single character, but the majority of them are/will be 960x720. I have decided not to include thumbnail images on each individual character's page. There are just descriptions of each image that I have. I figured this would make it all easier/faster to browse -- If you don't have to wait for a bunch of thumbnails to load, you can just go right to the picture you want -- but maybe not. You tell me. :)
For now, I am concentrating on G1 character images. In the future, I may (or may not) branch out into Beast Wars and Beast Machines images. The characters for whom I have posted images to date are listed to the left. As characters are added, the list will grow. For now, what you see is what you get, as they say.
Should you feel a need to use any of these images, feel free to download them and use them as you see fit. Credit would be nice, but isn't required. However, please do not hotlink to any of these images. I will be monitoring this rather closely and, should I notice any hotlinking, I'll upload a nasty image to that address instead. Know what I mean? :)
