Nightwind’s Log

Well, so much for my goal of updating every month, huh? But, to make up for it, I actually have quite a lot of stuff, at least some of which you’ll never have seen before, guaranteed. So, without further ado, the list:

1. New fanfics! One of them is a Barricade-centric.Transformers movie fanfic that I’m uploading as I write. (SCARY!) It’s called The Path of Least Resistance and it’s now the first item on the list on the Scribblings Index. My goal is to update this story weekly, but I have no idea if that’ll really happen or not…
   
   The other new fic is a li’l Knight Rider one, called Purpose, and it’s one that might or might not be expanded at some point in time, depending on how the spirit moves me. It can be found in the new section I’ve made for Non-Transformers Scribblings. This new section will, hopefully, be expanded as time goes on, as well. At the very least, I have Firefly fic in my head, sooooo….
   
   Finally, there is a new Fic Fragment, which I’m finally adding to the list. Just a little Fireflight piece not big enough to be called a “real” fic, called Tower.
   
   Whew!

2. The barest skeleton of the new and improved(?) Screen Capture Archive is up and running. For the moment, you can look at the old goofy screen caps and a few pics of a single character. Beachcomber, to be specific. Why Beachcomber? Because he was first on the alphabetical list of characters that I have caps of at the moment. I’m hoping to add more characters over the next few days, if I get the time to do so, so there might be a wild flurry of quick little updates over the next few days. At least, I hope there will be…
3. I made a little archive of the fandom-related LiveJournal icons that I’ve made over the years, mostly so that I can access them easily when I need to do so. But who knows; maybe there’s something there you’ll like, too.

Still to be done:

1. Review “Microbots.” That will be my project for next weekend, yes indeed. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it in a weekend. Those suckers are labor-intensive…
2. Finally put together the links page, dangit!
3. Compile the (very interesting!) results of the Great 2007 Transfan Survey and post them up.
4. Come up with an interesting new poll to post up. Anyone have any ideas? Doesn’t necessarily have to be TF-related…

Yes, it’s April Fool’s Day. No, it’s not an April fool that I updated the site. We have:

1) The Writing Workshop has been resurrected, although there is nothing new there. Was going to write something new, but I just didn’t have time this weekend, so it’ll have to wait until next time.

2) The long-awaited Redemption, a story six years in the making, is now complete. Finally! You’ll find three different options for reading it at the bottom of the slash index. Enjoy!

Goals for next update:

1) New episode review of “Microbots”.

2) The resurrection of the New, Improved Screen Capture Archive.

We’ll see how it goes. Now that Redemption is finished, my goal is to update the site once a month, probably at the beginning of the month. We’ll see if it really happens…

So, I decided to do a wee update. All of it, other than adding a link to the survey to help me select an episode to review, is to the Scribblings section. It’s been totally re-done. Why? Because I went ahead and added the “slash” stuff I’ve written. Yippee. It’s segregated, so if you don’t like that stuff it’s easy to avoid. Also, I went ahead and put up some bits from fics that I never finished, just for the heck of it. And yes, there is some stuff there that you’ve never seen because I’ve never shared it with anyone. So go! Read! Snicker!

Usually, I don’t bother with New Years resolutions because I know I’ll never keep them. But this time I’m going to try. Well, actually, I’m only making four, and one is a forgone conclusion, so it’s not like it’ll be difficult to keep. The other ones….Well, we’ll see how I do.

1) If I’m going to keep an online journal, then I should use it, right? Like, in a regular-type fashion. Haven’t been real good at that, I’m afraid. I’ve been very “spurty.” I’m going to try to be more regular…

2) Finish “Redemption.” As this is in final edit, and I’m going to (hopefully) start serious work on it tonight if I don’t get too distracted with other stuff, this is the one that should be effortless to keep. Should be, mind you…

3) Practice my stupid instrument more. I’m so very bad at that. And then I feel like a poo at rehearsals. *sigh* I bring it on myself. Need to fix that, yeeessssss…

4) Read and comment on other people’s fics. I haven’t been really good at doing this for the last couple of…well, years, and I feel badly about it. It always seems like expect people to comment on my stuff, but I never return the favor. The problem for me is that if I’m going to comment at all, I comment in depth. It’s an all-or-nothing kind of thing. If I know I can’t or don’t have time to say a lot, I say nothing. But, I’m going to try. I feel like I owe it to people, you know?

So my first “victims” are going to be:

Devi’s Seeker Carol fic. Because even though I know they’re all cliche and stuff, I love “A Christmas Carol” fics. Don’t know why, but there it is.

Oasis.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Beware, beware… Hopefully I’ll get to read/comment by the weekend…

I just discovered that I can’t write a post outside of this blog’s entry screen and then copy and paste the post in. That’s a bummer. I was going to copy/paste what I put in the LiveJournal here, too…but I’m not retyping it, so that’s not going to happen. Good to know for the future, though. Post here first, then c/p to the LJ.

What, did you expect Skywarp’s colors here, too? Nope, here it’s girly central. Ain’t it pretty?

In any case, this is the place where you’ll find updates to The Transfan Asylum…and some other stuff that I choose to post from time to time. Some posts I’ll cross-post to The LiveJournal. For this post, there’s just The List of Things What’s New and The List of Things What Don’t Work on the site. Going forward, this will be the place to check for what’s new on my site.

So, with that in mind, here’s the list of new stuff on the site:

• Well, this blog is new.
• There is a new guestbook. Please sign it, if you’re so inclined.
• I’ve decided to run a survey of the Transformers fan community. I did something like this way back in 2000, the results of which I compiled manually. Now that it’s 2007, they have open-source surveying software that makes it a heckuva lot easier to run a survey. I’d really like to get as many people as possible to fill out these things to get the largest possible sample. The survey can be found here. Just fill out your answers, and shoot it off to the database. I’d be much obliged.

And that’s about it for new stuff. Hey, it was enough (for now) to resurrect the site and move it to its new domain!Now for the list of things that aren’t working yet:

• The Screen Capture Archive. It’s going to take me some more time to get that monster up and running.
• The links page, because I haven’t put one together yet. If you’d like to be included in it, please either comment here with your website address or shoot me an email at nightwind@transfan-asylum.net.
• The Writing Workshop isn’t back up yet because I’ve yet to recode its pages. Besides which, I might add a new thing to it while I’m at it, as well.

Other than that, everything should be up and running. If you run across something that isn’t working properly, please let me know.
